Why 7z?

Jul 18, 2011 at 7:22 PM

The intended platform for Masaic Project is Win 7.  The native compression tool in Win7 is .zip.  I know that 7z may be technically  better but shouldn't this project be using .zip?  I may sound like an OCD dork (I am) but I don't like installing apps/utilities/programs that I don't need.

windows blocks downloaded .NET 4 apps and they just crashes without any tips how to unblock it. Since Windows doesn't support 7z natively it can't mark files in 7z archives as downloaded and block them

Windows doesn't block .zip files unless you have a policy enabled.  In that case your system admin could block any type of file they wish, even 7z.

it blocks files IN .zip archives, it is a new security policy in .NET 4, you need to go to the properties of .exe or .dll file and press ublock. I don't want to tell each man about it, so I will better use .7z
